75 km south of Burgas, 20 km from the Turkish border and only 8 km from Tsarevo at the foot of Papiya (the highest peak in Strandzha Mountain) is located the pretty resort-village of Varvara. It was marked on the map by Christian Ludwig Thomas in 1788 and Max Shimek in 1748-1798 under the name of Vardarah. Varvara can offer you the comfort of the new hotels with pools, home coziness of family hotels and old chimney houses - sharonki. Varvara is an excellent choice for those who want to buy fresh fish, fruits and vegetables of our own production from the villagers. The village is one of the stops of regular bus service between Burgas - Ahtopol - Sinemorets, providing the visitor with shuttle bus to Sozopol, Kiten, Rezovo, Ahtopol. Although the beach is only one and not very big, Varvara offers many secluded rocky coves, suitable for diving and spearfishing. During the first weekend of September the local fair, which offers fire dances, singing competitions and national struggles is held. Visit Varvara once and you will certainly return again!
